Join us for a two-day celebration of Carmen and her legacy in Europe and America.
Exploring Opera is a perfect way to prepare for Opera Wilmington’s Summer 2017 production of Carmen featuring:
- Master Class (3-5pm Friday, Beckwith Recital Hall) with Elizabeth McKay Field, local soprano and voice teacher and OW's Micaëla this summer will present a master class focusing on Bizet’s Carmen, featuring the talented UNCW voice students.
- Lectures on Saturday (9-4:45pm Saturday, Beckwith) with UNCW faculty Helena Kopchik Spencer, Elizabeth Loparits, Barry Salwen, Tiffany Gilbert, and guests Kunio Hara (USC), Kristen Meyers Turner (NC State) and J. Daniel Jenkins (USC)
- UNCW Honors students featured with their original poster presentations in the lobby
- Saturday evening scenes program (7:30pm Main Stage) of "The Gypsy Life" by UNCW Opera Outreach Project, featuring Opera Wilmington's Maria Beery, Chelsea Keane Holmes and Nathan Strock, and a special Sangria Sampler reception during intermission!
